American Apparel appoints chief information officer

Fashion retailer American Apparel has appointed Brian McHale as senior vice president and chief information officer.

In his new role, McHale will oversee information technology and computer systems at the company. This will also include leading the development and expansion of American Apparel’s retail digital capabilities alongside Thoryn Stephens, the recently appointed chief digital officer.

McHale has over 25 years’ experience in developing IT governance, business intelligence and big data solutions for companies such as DirecTV and Verizon.

Paula Schneider, chief executive of American Apparel, said: “As we continue to implement our multi-year turnaround, Brian will be an important asset to the company. Brian brings deep experience in his area of expertise, which will undoubtedly have a significant and positive impact on American Apparel.”
